Research Family Medicine Residency Program

OBSTETRICS TRACK

Are you interested in providing obstetrical care in your future practice?  If so, our Obstetric (OB) Track offers you a high-quality training experience specifically designed to model a Family Medicine style of obstetrical patient care.

Currently, our residency manages three satellite clinics in the Kansas City area and one main clinic, providing obstetrical care to underserved areas of the city.  Beginning the OB Track in your second year, you will co-staff these clinics longitudinally with our obstetrics faculty and build your own panel of obstetrics patients.

In addition to staffing clinics, these are the requirements of the Obstetrics Track:

Two elective months of advanced obstetrics

Formal presentation of an obstetrics topic to peers and faculty

 25 continuity deliveries

 80 total deliveries

If you choose the OB Track, you can look forward to learning basic ultrasound skills, managing low to moderate risk OB patients, teaching other medical professionals and peers, and developing a mentoring relationship with an Obstetrician to increase your experience in operative obstetrics (e.g. C-sections).

With the projected number of 400 deliveries per year in the clinics, our residency program is positioned to provide you with excellent OB training experiences.  Inquire more about our OB Track during your interview with us!
